What Makes a Man a Desirable Partner?

After reviewing forum posts, reading my emails, studying countless articles and doing extensive research I think I know what makes a man a desirable partner. The bad news is that what I find attractive is not necessarily what the next person does.

But there are many generalities that I can share. First of all, we all seem to have some preferences about physical qualities that are appealing. Luckily because we are dealing with individuals there seems to be a group of women looking for or that appreciates virtually every type of physical appearance.

Some want tall dark and handsome while others want short, skinny or heavier men. This is what makes the world go around, there is someone for everyone!

The important thing that I found out while researching this topic is that looks are not of primary importance. Most people seem to be looking for real qualities instead. Of course, there are some women that report it is the career of the man or his financial status that makes him appealing or not.

But many women simply want a man that has similar values and morals as she does. The two things most look for in a man are honesty and a sense of humor.

I know this seems too simple but when you think about it, if a person is honest many problems will never need to be addressed. There would be no cheating, lying, or deception.

A sense of humor just makes a person more pleasant to be around. If someone can make you laugh you are sure to appreciate them. Remember, I was trying to find out what makes a man an attractive partner for a long-term relationship.

I also found that many women appreciate what I consider to be a modern man. Many women want a significant other that is willing to pitch in with the 'womanly duties' such as housework and childcare. For many years I did not realize how common it is nowadays for a husband to do his part or all of the cooking and cleaning.

You see I was raised in a family that separated household responsibilities into his and hers. His was the yard work and taking out the garbage. He was head of the household and his responsibilities included earning the income.

Although I did not find a definitive answer to what makes a man an attractive partner I did find out that most of us look for real qualities over superficial things. Being treated with respect was almost always mentioned before any suggestions about financial stability. This says a lot about women. We really have come a long way!
