Advice on Your Boyfriend's Break-Up

You have just broken up with him. Without him you feel completely lost and you are trying to work out how to get him back. Maybe you need some advice on your boyfriend break up.

You have to decide whether the relationship is finished or not. Is he still part of your present or your future? You can't move on until you can say that he forms part of your past. You don't have to decide immediately. You can try to get him back or you can stay good friends, hoping that one day the relationship will be rekindled.

When you are not yet ready to move on, there are a number of things you can do to close the relationship. From this point on, you will feel you are starting to get over your relationship.

Begin by talking about your pain. Talk to family members and friends who are able to help you and are prepared to do so. Discuss what you are thinking with an uninterested third party. Note down your thoughts in your private diary, write a poem or compose a song about how you feel.

Then get rid of everything that may leave you with memories of him. Give back things of value, throw out the rubbish and store any gifts he gave you.

Now that you are single again, start to think about how you are going to employ your spare time. You don't want to be sitting at home looking at the ceiling all the time and inevitably thinking of him. Get out with your friends and find new pursuits, now that you are free from having to do all the things that he wanted you to do with him.

You will really start to feel that your therapy is working when you find another boyfriend who you like. As time goes on you will open a new relationship. You will realize that at last you have moved on and your boyfriend break up is a problem you have put behind you.
